- Waco Tribune Herald, Sun.March 31, 2002Mary Ann Veselka, 92, of Bellmead died Thursday, march 28, 2002 at a local hospital. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday, April 1 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Timothy Vavarek celebrating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery at West.Mrs. Veselka was born April 30, 1909 in Partutovice, Czechoslovakia and moved to Bellmead in 1937. She was a child care provider at James Connally AFB for many years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and an avid quilt maker. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.W. Veselka on August 9, 1985; a son and three brothers.Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Dickens of China Springs; sons Raymond J. Veselka of Robinson, Robert R. Veselka of China Spring, Herman J. Veselka of Arlington and Bill Veselka of Weatherford; a sister, Louise Orsag of Bellmead; 16 grandchildren; 34 greatgrandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
- Waco Tribune Herald, December 15, 2003Robert "Bob" Rudolph Veselka, 75, of China Spring, slipped away quietly on the evening of Saturday, December 13, 2003, surrounded by his loving family. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday Dec. 16 by Father Hilario Guajardo at Bellmead Funeral home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 at St. Louis Catholic Church with Father David Leibham as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery at West.Mr. Veselka was born Dec. 11, 1928 in Mart to R.W. and Mary Ann Bajer Veselka. He was a veteran of WWII and Korea, spent three tours of duty in Vietnam and earned many commendations, including the Bronze Star. Robert acheived the rank of Chief Master Sergeant while a First Sergeant in the Red Horse Civil Engineering Squadron and retired in 1974. He was a member of VFW #2148 and the Central Texas Archaeological Society. Mr. Veselka was preceded in deatj by his parents; his wife of 53 years, Martha Cook Veselka in 2002; and two beautiful granddaughters, Kathleen Swital Hammond and infant Constance Swital.He was a loving father to his five surviving daughters, Sandra Swital and husband Edward, Ginger Yedinak and husband Eugene, Martha "Marty" Huebner, all of Waco, Terri Morgan and husband Mark, and Mary Wilson and husband D. L., all of China Spring. He was "Papa" to Edward Swital & fiancee Leanne Green, Eugene and Nicholas Yedinak, Michele Lehrman and fiancee Douglas Drake and Sidnee and Coty Wilson. His great-grandchildren include Brice Hammond, son of Michael and Kathleen hammond, Gage Yedinak, Tyler and Madison Hardy, children of Eugene & Tiffany Yedinak, and Peyton Goebel, son of Victor and Jennifer Goebel.Bob had many friends he cared for, including his "family" at St. Phillips Catholic Church in China Sprin. His family & friends will forever remember "Papa" with loving thoughts. Pallbearers will be family members.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Mr. Veselka's name to Providence Hospice, 420 W. State Hwy 6, Waco, TX 76712.
