      Dorothy Cranek Weems, 87, of Richmond, Texas (formerly of Fairchilds, Texas), passed away March 19, 2014. She was born September 14, 1926 in Garwood, Texas to William and Justina Cranek.


      Dorothy graduated from Old Richmond High School, Durham Business College-Houston, and attended the University of Texas. She was employed by Teneco in Sales for 12 years, office manager for International Tool Co, a division of Hunt Tool Company of Houston, office manager for Gator-Hawk External Testers of Houston, and until recently, did bookkeeping requirements for Walter and Peggy Gless. She was a long time member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville and after moving to Richmond, she became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond and a member of Sacred Heart's Society of Margaret-Mary.


      She is preceded in death by her husband, William L. "Bill" Weems; parents, Justina and William Cranek; and brothers, William J. Cranek and John H. Cranek.


      Dorothy is survived by her nieces, Donna Straily and husband, Craig, of Chocktaw, OK, Lisa Cranek of Savannah, GA, Jennifer Shock and husband, Atom, of Austin, Dorothy Nolan of Houston; nephews, David Cranek and wife, Angela, of San Antonio, John Cranek of San Antonio, grand nieces, Samantha Sebesta, Tiffany Kaplan, Candice, Sarah, Heather and Elisa Cranek; and grand nephews, John W., David J., Thomas and Joshua Cranek, and Fletcher and Wyatt Shock; along with numerous other family and friends.


      Pallbearers will be David A. Cranek, John William Cranek, Craig Straily, Atom Shock, Joshua Cranek and David J. Cranek.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Walter Gless, Jr., Andy Gless and Bill Kopycinski.

      A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 24, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond.


      Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Sunday, March 23, 2014, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Chapel in Rosenberg.
