Michael Prorok died on April 29th, 3 a.m., at the local hospital at the ripe old age of 80 years, three months and 10 days.
He was born in Europe on Jan. 19, 1867. As a young man he arrived in this country and settled in the Frydek area of Austin County. Some 50 years ago, he and his wife, Agnes, bought a farm in the Tavener area, where they have lived until the year of 1918. They bought a residence in East Bernard, where the deceased lived for 29 years until his death. His wife died in 1935 and several years later he married Mrs. Frances Holchak, who died in 1940. Mr. Prorok was one of the original members of the local Holy Cross Church. He was a devout Christian, good neighbor and charitable.
The funeral services were held at the Holy Cross Church on May 1st Msgr. J. C. Kunc officiating with the assistance of Fathers Nesvadba, Tydlacka en Vitek. The pallbearers were his old friends and neighbors, A. F. Bohacek, Frank Prazak, J. J. Vacek, Frank Toman, Joe Priesler and Emil W. Faltisek.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Kolacek of Rosenberg, and some nephews and nieces.
