    BARTLETT - Dennis R. Barabas, 81, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013, in Bartlett.

    Funeral Mass: 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Cyril and St. Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. Interment: Holland City Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Goodnight Funeral Home in Bartlett with a rosary at 7.

    Dennis was born in Holland, Texas, to Emil and Lydia Barabas on Jan. 13, 1932. He went to high school in Holland and graduated in 1950. He went on to earn a bachelor's from Temple College and worked as a civil engineer for the Army Corps of Engineers for 30 years. He was involved in the SPJST. He enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting, and received numerous awards and honors.

    The family would like to thank Will-O-Bell Nursing Home for the wonderful care they gave Dennis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy C. Barabas; his parents; and one brother, Douglas G. Barabas.

    Survivors: Sons, Peter John Barabas of Killeen and Vincent Paul Barabas of Austin; daughter, Victoria Barabas of Fort Worth; stepsons, Nicholas Carpenter of Austin and James Lloyd of Fort Worth; nephews, Larry G. Barabas of Temple and Gary Barabas of Luling; niece, Dinah Braune of Gonzales; and several cousins.

    Submitter's Comments:  I worked with Dennis for many years at the Corps of Engineers office in Fort Worth.  He was instrumental in organizing SPJST Lodge 180 in Burleson in the 1970s.
