      HALLETTSVILLE – Mrs. Mary Pekar, 82, of Yoakum, died Saturday morning in a Yoakum hospital.


      Born in Lavaca County on May 23, 1896.  Mrs. Pekar was a member of the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Sweet Home.  She married Frank Pekar in Sweet Home Sept. 28, 1914.


      Funeral services for Mrs. Pekar will be Monday at 3 p.m. in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Rev. Al Padalecki officiating.  Burial will be in Sweet Home Catholic Cemetery.  The body will be at Kubena Funeral Home until 1:30 p.m. Monday, and rosary will be recited at the funeral home Sunday at 7:30 p.m.


      Mrs. Pekar is survived by her husband, of Yoakum; six daughters, Mrs. Georgia Vanek of Houston, Mrs. Betty Ann Schaefer of Houston, Mrs. Adela Vanek of Houston, Mrs. Helen Bujnoch and Mrs. Elizabeth Dworsky, both of Bloomington, and Mrs. Dorothy DEworsky of New Braunfels; four sons, Felix Pekar of Yoakum, Jerome Pekar, Victor Pekar and Albin Pekar, all of Houston; a sister, Mrs. William Pekar of Yoakum; a brother, Anton Kocian of Sinton; 40 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.


      Pallbearers at the funeral will be grandsons Lawrence Pekar, Alfred Dworsky, David Dworsky, Michael Pekar, Kenneth Vanek and Gene Bujnoch.
