MILDRED LILLIE VESELY
VICTORIA - Mildred Lillie Vesely passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at the age of 77.
She was born November 24, 1934, in St John, Texas, to the late Albert and Emma Rab Sternadel. She grew up in Ganado and graduated from Ganado High School in 1953 where she was a cheerleader. She married Paul Vesely on September 21, 1953, in Ganado. She became an LVN in Victoria and worked at DeTar Hospital and for Dr. Alfred Kopecky, Sr. for thirty years. Mildred was a charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Victoria, where she was a member of the Altar Society, Holy Family Quilters and a Prayer Warrior. She was a member of the Catholic Daughter's, Court of St. Ann. She was known for her donations of homemade baked goods, especially cheese rolls and jelly to church and school festivals. She especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and playing cards with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother and sister, LaNelle Blinka.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Vesely; daughter, Karen Mares and husband, Joe; son, Larry Vesely and wife, Sheila of Victoria; grandchildren, Wendy Mares Ohrt and husband, Clay, Jason Mares and wife, Danette of Victoria, Heath Vesely of Amarillo and Hayden Vesely of Victoria; great-grandchildren, Kyler and Natalie Ohrt and Cooper Mares; her sisters, Joyce Barker and husband, Joe of Wharton, Lucille Janecka and husband, Melvin of Victoria; brothers, Franklin Sternadel and wife, Carolyn of Victoria, Kenneth Sternadel and wife, Ann of Ganado, and Leonard Sternadel and wife, Dana of El Campo, and her sister-in-law, Justine Vesely; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2012. A prayer service and rosary will follow at Rosewood Funeral Chapel at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father George Henninger presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Mares, Clay Ohrt, Heath Vesely, Hayden Vesely, Albert Blinka, Anthony Blinka and Gene Vesely.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church. The family would like to thank Dr. Marie Velasco for her compassion and care, and the 3rd floor staff at Kindred Hospital for their care this last month.
