- Feb 14, 2013GRANBURY - Rudolph A. Kubik, 96 1/2, of Granbury passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013.

"Rudy" was born in Binghamton, N.Y., on May 25, 1916, to John and Mary Kubik. His family later moved to Chicago, Ill., then to Wisconsin where he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps at the age of 18-19. At the age of 92, he attended the 75th anniversary of the CCC in Bastrop. He earned a degree in Chicago at a technical training school, which gave him the tools to become a sales service representative for Continental Can Co. On May 17, 1941, he married Mary Broz and they were married almost 59 years. He and Mary were transferred to Michigan and then on to Wisconsin.
When he retired from Continental Can Co. after 36 years of service, he and Mary moved to Lake Kiowa and after 22 years they moved to The Woodlands. His hobbies included golf, fishing, pig roasts, cards and family. While in Lake Kiowa he served as a volunteer firefighter. His last few years in The Woodlands, he was a member of the Bullshooters Group, Senior Pals at the Catholic church, Neighborhood Men's Coffee and The Texas Czech Genealogical Society. In October 2011, he moved to an assisted living residence in Granbury up until his death.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Mary; brothers, Joe, John, Ernie, Stanley and Tony; and sister, Mary. Survivors: Daughters, Roberta Ziegler (Don) of Granbury and Judi Quaife (Clay) of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Deb Willis (Kirk), Desiree Jucha, Jennifer Hardin (Shane), David Jucha (Sandi), Heidi Quaife and Scott Quaife (Shannon); 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
