      Ludwig "L.J." was born in Mixville to parents Charles S. and Julia (Hajdik) Sodolak. He was raised in Frydek. Ludwig honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII in Italy with the 10th Mountain Division and returned home safe along with all 67 Frydek men that went to war during WWII. Ludwig and the men that came home safely built the Grotto that now stands at St. Mary's Catholic Church. On January 28, 1951 Ludwig was joined in marriage to the love of his life Loretta Saha. Ludwig and Loretta raised six children and were married until she passed away June 24, 1989. On December 15, 1990 Ludwig was joined in marriage to Ms. Evelyn Lueck and was married until she passed away on May 17, 2010. During his early adult life, Ludwig made his living with farming and ranching and then he went to work for WKM Foundry and was employed with WKM for many years. After working much of his life in the farming and ranching industry and with WKM, Ludwig ventured into the Real Estate business during the later years of his life.


      He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where he was very involved with the yearly Grotto celebration and was emcee for many years. Ludwig was also active in the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree, The American Legion Post 442 and the V.F.W.


      Ludwig J. Sodolak, Sr. passed away on January 3, 2011 in Katy, Texas.


      Ludwig is survived by his children, L.J. Sodolak, Jr and wife Terry of Frydek, Marvin Sodolak of Bellville, Michelle Ladd and husband Peter of Sealy, Sharon Gerland and husband Larry of Sealy, Jacqueline Klatt and husband Ray of Bastrop and Dominic Sodolak and wife Leah of Rosenberg, sister, Mary Eder and husband Marion of Needville, brother, Albert J. Sodolak and wife Doris of Frydek, brothers-in-law, Wilbert Saha and wife Cynthia of Frydek and Edwin Saha of Sealy, grandchildren, John Sodolak and wife Tiffany, Rebecca Colburn and husband Steven, Nathan Sodolak and wife Erin, Stacey Kasberg and husband Greg, Rachel Novicke and fianc Chris Mallett, Josh Novicke and wife Heather, Nick Novicke and wife Kristen, Jacob Novicke and wife Amanda, Jeremy Novicke and fiance Kimi Lingenfelder, Lacey Bozeman and husband Robbie, Katie Gerland, Jennie Klatt, Madison Klatt, Camp Sodolak and Grey Sodolak, step grandson, Logan Lueck, Twelve great grandchildren, and close family friends Melvin and Johnnie Klatt, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


      Preceded in death by his parents, Charles S. and Julia Sodolak, wives, Loretta Sodolak and Evelyn Sodolak, sister, Lillie Manna and brother, Charlie Sodolak.


      Serving as pallbearers are his grandsons, John Sodolak, Nathan Sodolak, Josh Novicke, Nick Novicke, Jacob Novicke, Jeremy Novicke, Robbie Bozeman, and close family friend Larry Novicke. Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons Camp Sodolak, Grey Sodolak, Greg Kasberg, Chris Mallett, and CW2. Steven Colburn, who is currently serving our country in the United States Army in Afghanistan, and his close friends Melvin Klatt, Sr.,and Michael Kubricht.


      Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 442, PO Box 442, Sealy, Texas 77474 or to the charity of choice.
