      BELTON, June 15.-- Frank J. Cocek was dead and Monroe Hall was in jail here today charged with murder as the result of a beer party shooting at Cocek's store six miles east of Temple yesterday.
       
      Cocek was beaten about the face and head and shot through the chest.

      TEMPLE, Tex., June 14.-- Frank Cocek, 48, was shot to death early today on the highway in front of his store five miles east of Temple.  Monroe Hall, 50, farmer living in Temple, was charged with murder and his bond fixed at $7,500.
       
      Witnesses said Hall went to the store late Saturday nght with six threshing hands to buy food.  A quarrel arose and the men were ordered from the store.  Cocek had a gun in his hand when the body was found, but it had not been fired.

      TEMPLE, Tex., Nov. 20.-- Monroe Hall, farmer, was acquitted today on a charge of murder for the slaying of Frank Cocek, storekeeper.  Hall pleaded self defense, saying he had been attacked by Cocek the night of June 14, and had shot to protect himself.
