        The two attached documents might provide some pointers/thoughts. The first was written by the Taxonomies in the Public Sector group in the UK (a forum of public sector information specialists), by collating members’ experiences. The second (Business benefits of taxonomies) was written by me about three years ago when I was Chief Taxonomist at The Stationery Office. But of course they both make general points – if you’re looking for hard statistics, let me know when you find them!
