FW: Camp Charles Cleanup
- Below is a message from Bob Cain the Caretaker at Camp Charles. As you can
read we were very fortunate to not sustain any major damage. The other camps
in the council did not fare as well. We are organizing a workday for this
Saturday, September 3rd from 9am - 4pm to clean up the camp. I realize that
there is also an opportunity to serve at Camp Boddie this Saturday and Boddie
is in much worse shape than Charles. If you are planning on going to Camp
Boddie this Saturday, do not change your plans to attend the cleanup at Camp
Charles. If you are not in a position to go to Camp Boddie and would like to
help at Charles this Saturday, please email me at aipock@... so
we can organize the work teams. We have two major events planned for the
next 6 weeks so we really need to get the camp back in shape for these
Thank you for your continued support of Camp Charles.

Subject: Camp Charles Cleanup
To give you a brief overview of the condition of Camp Charles, I have the
The camp was spared of any building damage and large trees falling. THere is
a lot of limbs, leaves, and other debris in every campsite and general areas.
There is an issue with no power at Girdwood Campsite. I don't know if there
is a bad breaker or what.
There is a workday this Saturday, September 3, 2011, if anyone wants to come
If anyone does come, they need to bring yardbrooms, rakes, bush axes, etc.
Again, we're talking small stuff. Also, a trailer to haul limbs to a central
area, a chain saw or two wouldn't hurt.I don't see cutting down trees at this
point (that will come later).
Also, if anyone has a small bucket truck, I could sure use one to clear some
branches in or near power lines.
The work can start between 9 and 10 o'clock on saturday. Units or
individuals should provide their own lunch and refreshments. We should be
able to stop around 4:00PM.
I must say this, Camp Boddie is in far greater need of help than Camp
Charles. I would appreciate anyone who wants to come to Charles to work and
understand if they feel they need to be at Boddie.
Again, Camp Charles faired really well compared to a lot of other places in
Thank you for your continued support of this camp and your concern about its
