Among the thousands and thousands of items for sale or on display
were literally hundreds of Antietam items, including CDvs of leading
Sharpsburg generals, officers, and soldiers, dozens of letters from
the battlefield or shortly afterward describing the action, guns and
uniforms with pedigrees tracing to Antietam, and many other
One item of particular interest was Fighting Dick Richardson's
general officer uniform and gauntlets and other memorabilia from this
II Corps veteran who gave the last full measure of devotion at
Antietam near Bloody Lane.
Other highlights included 5 original Lee documents, the highest
priced being a letter from Lee to General John B. Floyd on sale from
only $12,500. Also on display were many original Berdan's
Sharpshooters items, several rare artillery pieces, artifacts brought
home from Antietam by soldiers 9and stuff dugh up near the
battlefield on private land).
