      Parse it all you want, but to say Lincoln was unwavering in his support of

      Don't see what that has to do with this.

      The Valley was Mac's own fault.

      If I'm reading the Sphinx correctly here, your definition of "in Mac's
      corner" can be roughly translated as "get out the way and let McClellan
      do whatever he wants."

      Depends how you define it, I guess. Lincoln was still in Mac's corner --
      continually defended him to his many detractors all winter and spring --
