      Gerry, given the numbers involved in the overall counterattack,
      this "infantry support" is probably the size of nothing greater
      than a squad or two. Just enough to convice the cannoneers they
      haven't been abandoned and (perhaps) force any oncoming Union
      attackers to halt for a moment and return fire at the edge of
      small-arms range, but nothing more substantial.
