      Coming event:
      Santa in the Civil War, Monday, Dec. 12, Uncle Sam's restaurant,
      Central Park, monthly meeting of the Rappahannock Valley Civil War
      Round Table, open to the public. Kevin Rawlings of Sharpsburg, Md., a
      living-history interpreter who portrays a Civil War-era Santa Claus
      based on Thomas Nast's representation, will talk about the evolution
      of the American Santa Claus and Christmas customs and traditions that
      reached maturity at the time of the Civil War. He also will show
      slides of wartime holiday illustrations by Nast, Winslow Homer and
      others. Dinner 6:30 p.m.; lecture about 7:45 p.m. Reservations are
