Picture is Dave Conrad's beautiful W-10 over Wisconsin in Feb 2012 finishing the test period for his Tailwind. Plan to see him at Baraboo this year!
The W-10 Tailwind is simple, light, and FAST! Red Hamilton's Race 37 has set the bar at 235 MPH cruising speed (though admittedly he was in a race at the time)!
For builders and other interested folks, all of the old newsletters can be found in the "Files" section. Also there is a lot of other helpful construction information in the Files Section and many pictures of construction and flying in the Photos Section. Also note that "Clement modifications" are recommended for the W-10 tailwinds, and he also has the plans for the trike gear. Jim Stanton has a list of drawing corrections and other information. The Swiss group has put together a Compendium of builder's hints and comments, which is almost a builder's bible for construction. All information can be found in the "Files" section.
The 2015 Tailwind and Buttercup Fly In will be held Jul 17-18 at Hartford, WI (HXF). Mark Stamsta and Jim Stanton will be the hosts. This will be a very basic social event similar to the early Baraboo events. Tentative fly out to Oshkosh the 19th AM. Oshkosh is July 20-26. We have enthusiastic support from the City of Harford, as well as Steve Krog who is an EAA Vintage Division Director. All types of aircraft, drive-ins and walk-ins are welcome--just bring your interest in Steve Wittman's designs.
The West Coast Wittman design Fly-in for 2015 is expected to be Second Sunday in October, location yet to be determined. All aircraft and drive-ins/walk-ins are welcome.
