      Always wanted to auto-login straight from boot up, like Knoppix.
      Never knew how to do it. Ran across the trick tonight.

      1. You have to modify ENV_SUPATH and ENV_PATH to include /usr/X11R6/bin
      in /etc/login.defs

      2. Add the following line to /etc/inittab

      sx:2:respawn:/bin/su - your-user-name-goes-here -c xinit

      3. change initdefault to 2 in /etc/inittab

      4. re-boot
