Normall it is part of the Elec Eng program at UWI, but other wise you may have better luck finding a short course at Joun D or TTIT (couva) perhaps even MIC.

may have better luck finding a short course at Joun D or TTIT (couva)
            perhaps even MIC.

Otherwise the basics of it just requires an understanding of control
theory (perhaps a mathematical mind is essential to wading through the s
and z thingies, but the basics is common sense).

A search for basic control terms such as PLC, Ladder Logic etc. reveal
            some pretty nice entry points.

            http://www.plcs.net/

Just a suggestion: as a programmer and someone into *IX you may find it
better worth your while learning about FPGA's like XILINX or even the
            PIC. chip

            http://www.microchip.com/stellent/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=64

Why? Unless you are planning to go into a career or control engineering
etc. a specialised course may not satisfy the inquisitive mind as most
of what you will learn applies directly to specific applications. Think
of the FPGA as generalised PLC.
