  • This a-ha song is a real fave for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrT66ocDP74 Just listened to all the Harket songs you linked to: I agree, "Listening" is nice in an understated way. I didn't realize he didn't mostly write his own material. Morten Harket - Scared Of Heights Think the song was on a "higher" level than the video. LOL. Morten Harket - Keep the Sun Away (Complete...

  • My interpretation of Harket's "Brother" (the lyrics) is that he believes in kinfolk, but his brother got jealous of his success.

  • What Moz said about A-ha in his book isn't necessarily applicable to Morten Harket. He said that because they so seemed so healthy & fit that he didn't think their need to make music came from pain. Well, Harket's "Brother" is sad/melancholy and the video creepy/scary. :)

  • I like Lou Reed's production in this song, but I like Morrissey's melodies better (and lyric changes) in his cover version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJXoxgacFxc Another idea for promoting music reviews: use the "Other Music" board in the F orum on Morrissey-solo.com. • Funny thing, I hadn't read this message yet before I posted today about my Yahoo Voices content, otherwise I could have mentioned that the way I got into the messages was by clicking on "conversations" under the Stratosphere Fanzine banner. LOL. Don't give up on this place entirely. Of course, it won't be frequented as much because there's so many distractors on the int ernet, but...

  • I took inspiration from Jen and submitted an album review to Yahoo Voices. M y review of Chronicles & Vanity, album by Garrett Sawyer, is published on Yahoo Voices. This is the same article that was submitted to SDReader and Adequacy, that was ignored. Make sure to click on the link even if you don't have time to read it so that it gets "traffic". http://voices.yahoo.com/chronicles...

  • This is a tough one! The guitar is haunting. I recognize it from a CD from Jen. But the band does seem familiar from 90s college rock. Hmmmm.... Is it from the "slowcore" subgenre? --- In Stratosphere_Fanzine@^$1, "sidewaysgaze" wrote: > > Yes, posted about this way back in 2007, maybe, but I've now uploaded the song at YouTube, so you can listen to it there. • The Red House Painters sounding dead there. Lana Del Rey getting melodramatic with her Jackie O. impression. I like this patriotic one: Lyrics Lana Del Rey - Gramma Lyrics Artist: Lana Del Rey Album: Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant Genre: Pop Gramma said she'll leave the lights on for me Gramma said the flags are waving for me Gramma said that somewhere out there there's a good...
