Test upgrades for my Stewart
- When I first joined, I was upgrading my kit (40333) to a 25-marker DNA
test as my earliest known ancestor was Robert Campbell Stewart
(1851-1920) who variously claimed to have been born in Perthshire or
Renfrew. He also listed his mother as Barbara Campbell but a couple of
group members were very helpful and were able to determine that the
only parent combination of Robert Stewart and Campbell to christen a
child in the right 1851-2 timeframe were Robert Stewart and Jane
I have now had the results of the 25 marker test - R1b1b2. I am not
sure if this is enough to put me on that map that was done earlier on
(it had three clusters of Stewart ancestry). I am currently waiting
for a sub-clade test to tell me whether I am R1b1b2 9 or 10.
Peculiarly, however, I have no exact Y-DNA or Haplogroup matches for
25 markers - they are all at least 1 step mutations. THe only place
where I have had an exact-match to a 25 marker is RAO, and that match
came from Ireland.
In short, I remained as baffled as ever. I will inform the group of
the sub-clade result, which - you never know - may end up in getting
an exact result with someone we can tie my ancestor to.
