      Swans And Rings

      Preening and preening
      Unceasingly,
      Seemingly competing with
      The color white;
      Feathers are softly flying
      Into children's gentle hands-
      A beautiful place.

      Perhaps their mothers
      Are telling them
      For the first time,
      Look, my child,
      "Those are swans and
      These are their feathers."

      Still they may not understand,
      Though watching the swans
      With bright eyes
      In awe with a wonderland-
      This Earth-
      Feeling the soft feathers
      In their own soft hands.

      I am whispering to myself
      Or maybe to them,
"The swans' inner message is realisation.
      What's all the world's gold
      Compared to their charming beauty?"

      Though some are adorned
      With plastic rings
      Around their fragile feet,
      Their freedom
      Seems to remain untouched-
      And children know nothing
      About rings.

Thank you SO much for keeping the tradition alive of sharing poems here. The day I could write such elegant and graceful poems in a language other than my mother tongue seems in a far off land. What a gift you have to share with us. Thank you.
