      A candle and lighter, transparent container for water (a clear bowl makes a beautiful container), and enough water to fill the container to below the height of the candle, is all that is needed. The candle needs to be fixed to the bottom of the container. Dripping a bit of warm wax on the container bottom and letting it re-solidify to the candle base is one way. Fill the container with water so that it is a bit below the top of the candle wax. Then light the candle and let it burn down.

      It never hurts to try something out first before a ceremony or gathering – but then, trying to get it to work and seeing what happens for oneself is half the fun.
