Pole- Star Promise-Light
- What a delight to find this incredible item at the circus!
4 CD's of Guru singing the 200 songs from the Pole-Star Promise-Light series, plus the Bengali words and translations.
Since coming home I've been listening to 50 a night and reading the translation while Guru is singing.
The words are so touching and beautiful.
What touches me most is that some are so full of hope;
Again You shall call me:
This hope dwells inside my heart;
I spend my days and nights in silence.
I do not bury myself in utter shame.
You know the secret thoughts of my heart.
You know my restlessness, my bungles.
You will make me great,
You will make me good,
You will make me divine.
Although I am now absolutely insignificant,
With Your boundless Grace I shall
Destroy falsehood night.
Lord Rudra will dance in me,
inside my heart,
The dance of life immortalising ecstasy.
(- Sri Chinmoy)
and still others are full of pain at the separation from the Divine, and the frustration at our own human weaknesses and failings.
I desire many, many things.
I get nothing.
Yet I go on asking for my desires.
There will be no end to them;
My desires will remain deathless.
Forever I look for my own existence-reality
Inside the heart of darkness.
I know why all this happens.
It happens because I have no aspiration-light.
Alas, I want You not;
He whom I want is the professor of desires
You bring me nectar and call me.
Alas, what I do is look for my desire-life
Here, there, and everywhere; within and without.
My restless vital I am.
There is no peace of mind within me.
But there is something which is very strange:
I still long for you,
And You alone.
(- Sri Chinmoy)
Somehow these songs of sorrow at our desires and failings are comforting. Guru knew and still knows all of our struggles on the way to the goal, and it's as if he wrote these songs to feel oneness with ours, and humanity's pain.
The struggles seem easier to bear if I know and truly feel in my heart that Guru understands all of my imperfections.
Then the hope of the first poem feels absolutely real.
I hope others are enjoying this new book song offering as well.
Thanks to all of the people who were instrumental in putting this together.
- Thank you Purnakama for your post, I found this also very comforting from My India, Mother India's Summit-Prides. Mother India's Prides knows all our untold sufferings and is still proud of us.
MY MOTHER INDIA COMMANDS ME
To learn that there is no such thing
Everything in God's creation
Is on the clear road

- Dear Purnakama,
Just a little bit after I met you at Madal Circus in person for the first time, I was told about these series of Guru´s compositions!
Both events have been joyful and inspiring to me! :) as it was also the first time I was seeing those beautiful white and black photos of Guru in this booklet.
The whole material conveys such a living Presence!
