Of interest to fans of the 3100 mile race, the 3100 mile trail along the Conintental
Divide is being modernized. It is a rugged footpath from Mexico to Canada,
across the crest of the Rockies.

A one hundred mile section was refurbished by Congress in 1978. Supporters hope
to finish the rest of the trail by 2008 - at a total cost of $27 million dollars.

The trail exists now, in a rugged state, and was the inspiration behind a 5-summer
trek of Cindy Ross' family. Cindy and her husband and two kids, every summer for 5
years completed one 700 mile section of the trail, the last being completed on
      mountain bike.

She started in 1993 with her two kids, then aged one and three, her husband, baby
carriers and llamas. She has written a book about her experiences called "Scraping
      Heaven"

      frequent visitor : )
