The continuity of consciousness accompanies us from life to life.
Favorable and unfavorable imprints are accumulated and deposited in
the continuum of consciousness during these existences. Neither
wholesome nor destructive imprints can have the slightest effect on
the natural, fundamental state of spirit. Nevertheless, these
causes, effects, and conditions are transmitted from rebirth to
rebirth until they reach their term. Subtle and gross levels of mind
function in a complementary way during our incarnations. Do not
neglect your practice. Be very determined to transform yourself so
as to change the course of your existences and diminish the impact
      of previous accumulations.
