      I] June 5, 2007
      On occasion of World Environment Day, WWF-India, MSO has organised 'Forest Clean up' at Kanheri caves in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali. The duration of the clean up drive will be 8.00am to 11.00am. 

      The meeting point will be 'main gate of SGNP, Borivali' at 7.45am
       For more details and registration call us on 2207 8105 / 1970 or 98699 03260 from Monday to Friday between 10.00am to 5.00pm.

      II] June 3, 2007
      To celebrate the World Environment day, on Sunday prior to June 5 i.e. on June 3, 2007 the Mangrove Society of India- Mumbai Chapter has organized Human Chain in support of Environment especially mangroves. The idea behind this activity is to sensitize the residents of Mumbai about importance of mangroves and garner their support for the same. All those who are concerned about our Island City and mangroves are welcomed. WWF-India, MSO is supporting this event and invites our Volunteers, subscribers and well wishers for the same. The venues selected for this event are:

      A. Venue: Eastern Express Highway
      - Creekside Colony, Vikhroli
      - Junction where the Road from Gandhinagar Junction meets E.E Highway
           Time: 8 am to 10 am

      B. Venue: Lokahandwala Complex, Lokahandwala backroad Joggers Track
           Time: 5 pm to 7 pm


      Some of the current threats to Mangroves of Mumbai are:
      1. The opening up of salt pan lands for slum rehabilitation
      2. The Kanjur landfill site being planned in CRZ area.
      3. Deposit of debris and silt from the Mithi river.
