      Dear Raghu,
The spider is surely a Thrigmopoeus sp., but identification of the species is not possible on the basis of the provided images. The genus is endemic to the Western Ghats and is represented by two species, T. insignis and T. truculentus. Both these species are known from Uttar Kanada. It would be nice if you can provide more images, especially dorsal ones.

      Zeeshan,
The identification of either species is NOT possible based on dorsal side images! Based on the locality described by Raghu, the species in question is most likely to be Thrigmopoeus truculentus . Here's a side by side comparision of the two species, just to make a point!
And here's a link that will help you better understand the "differences" between the two species!
      Just my two cents worth,
