Additions to the History of some Mysterious Deaths Parts one to ten
December 2, 1963: Edward Grant Stockdale, 48, allegedly committed suicide by jumping from his office on the thirteenth floor of a building in Miami, FL. He died ten days after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Stockdale did not leave a suicide note,
Stockdale is indeed linked in very closely with Bobby Baker. According to William Torbitt's book, Nonmenclature of an Assassination Cabal, Stockdale was involved with Bobby Baker, Fred Black, George Smathers and mobsters Ed Levenson and Benny Sigelbaum in a company called Serve-U-Corporation. The company provided vending machines for companies working on federally granted programs. These contracts were being obtained via the LBJ corrupt network.
George Smathers who eventually became head of the committee in the South to elect John Kennedy, Grant Stockdale was named director of the Florida State committee to elect John Kennedy.
In his book, The Dark Side of Camelot, Seymour Hersh interviews Grant Stockdale's son. Hersh writes that Grant Stockdale Jr. claimed that his father had taken part with JFK in private sex parties at the Carlyle Hotel in New York (1962). Also that his father had been invited to the White House at the beginning of November and JFK told Stockdale "I need you to raise some dough $50,000...because I need it and I count on you to keep it quiet". On asking why, JFK allegedly answered, "It's for personal use."
Stockdale Jr. said that after the assassination of JFK his father was: "Very worried about Bobby Baker. Was Baker blackmailing JFK? We know that it was Baker who provided him with Ellen Rometsch. In October, 1963, Robert Kennedy arranged for LaVern Duffy to take a large sum of money to Germany in order to buy the silence of Rometsch. Baker would no doubt want money to keep quiet about this matter. In fact, he probably knew Rometsch's links with the KGB when he arranged the introduction.
Prior to his death Stockdale Sr. spoke with Attorney William Frates. Frates stated, "He started talking. It didn't make much sense. He said something about 'those guys' trying to get him. Then about the assassination. He said he wanted to talk to me - that he had already talked to Billy Gaither (another attorney)."
May 10, 1965: Nancy Carole Tyler died in a plane crash, near Ocean City, Maryland. A pilot, Robert Davis, took her out for a spin and the plane crashed into the sea. Tyler was Bobby Baker's secretary and her roommate was George Smathers' secretary. In November, 1963, Kennedy decided that because of the emerging Bobby Baker scandal he was going to drop Lyndon B. Johnson as his running mate in the 1964 election. Kennedy told Lincoln that he was going to replace Johnson with George Smathers.
Tyler believed that Baker would leave his wife. When he refused, she became very angry and according to Baker, made "scenes". Tyler took the fifth amendment before the Senate Rules Committee and refused to reveal details of Baker's business activities. However, Hoover knew all about what had been going on. He had bugged Tyler's phone as well as Fred Black's hotel room where he carried out business meetings.
November 8, 1965: Dorothy Kilgallen, 52, was found dead at her Manhattan, brownstone apartment due to a fatal combination of a deadly mix powerful barbiturates; secobarbital, amobarbital and pentobarbital. She had stated to friends prior to her death that she believed she was under surveillance.
Kilgallen was a newspaper reporter/columnist and after Kennedy's assassination, she had gained Jack Ruby's confidence and had several conversations with him in the courtroom. She told a few friends after her five minute jailhouse interview with Ruby, that she was "about to blow the JFK case sky high." She told attorney Mark Lane: "They've killed the President, [and] the government is not prepared to tell us the truth . . . "and that she planned to "break the case." To other friends she said: "This has to be a conspiracy! . . . I'm going to break the real story and have the biggest scoop of the century."
Kilgallen told friends that she had obtained information that Ruby and the Dallas Police officer J. D. Tippet were friends and that David Ferrie was involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Tippet was reported at the time to have been killed by Oswald. In September 1964 Kilgallen reported in the New York Journal American that Jack Ruby, Tippet and Bernard Weismann had a two hour meeting at the Carousel Club on 14th November, 1963. Bernard Weissman was the man who had placed the newspaper ad, "JFK-Wanted for Treason," in Dallas newspapers on November 22nd, 1963. Warren Commission Report, mentioned this meeting and it noted the identity of "the fourth man" to was present at this Carousel Club meeting as "a rich Texas oil man.
In an article she wrote in July, 1959, Kilgallen reported that the CIA and the Mafia were involved in a plot to assassinate Fidel Castro. We now know this was true but it only became public knowledge during the Church's Select Committee on Intelligence Activities in 1975. Kilgallen was obviously well-informed about what was going on in the CIA at that time.
In notes relating to a CIA report about Marilyn Monroe, dated 3rd August, 1962 and based on wire-taps of people's telephone calls, stated that Monroe was threatening to tell secrets that she had obtained from her relationship with John F. Kennedy. This included the claim that Monroe "knew of the President's plan to kill Castro". These wire-taps were of conversation of Dorothy Kilgallen, Marilyn Monroe, Robert Kennedy and Howard Rothberg, a lawyer working for Monroe. It appears Rothberg was passing on information from Monroe to Kilgallen. Marilyn Monroe was found dead two days after this CIA report was written.
George Smathers disclosed JFK's affair with Marilyn Monroe. According to Sarah Churchill's book, The Many Lives of Marilyn Monroe (2004), it was Smathers who first leaked the story to the press. The story first appeared in an article by Dorothy Kilgallen the day before Monroe died. Why should Smathers do this? One possibility is that Smathers was trying to link JFK with Monroe's death. According to Matthew Smith's Victim: The Secret Tapes of Marilyn Monroe (2003) the CIA was involved in a plot to implicate the Kennedys in Monroe's death as punishment for the Bay of Pigs disaster.
Evelyn Lincoln claims that in November, 1963, Kennedy decided that because of the emerging Bobby Baker scandal he was going to drop Lyndon B. Johnson as his running mate in the 1964 election. Kennedy told Lincoln that he was going to replace Johnson with George Smathers.
November 10, 1965: Florence Smith (maiden name Pritchett), 45, died of a cerebral hemorrhage. She was a columnist of sorts and a colleague of Dorothy Kilgallen. Dorothy Kilgallen most likely got a lot of the information for her news stories from her close relationship with the Smiths.
Florence's husband, Earl E. T. Smith, was a millionaire and member of the New York Stock Exchange. In June, 1957, President Dwight Eisenhower appointed Earl Smith as Ambassador to Cuba and he a strong supporter of Batista. Also Florence was a long-term lover of JFK. FBI files reveal that over a two years period Senator John Kennedy made more than a dozen visits to Cuba in order to meet Florence. Florence also met Kennedy in Miami and Palm Beach.
August 7, 1976 : John Roselli, 71, mobster who testified to House Select Committee on Assassinations and was to do so again, but found dismembered inside metal drum. House Select Committee on Assassinations
Marcos Orlando Letelier was torn to bits by a car bomb on September 21, 1976 in Washington DC just before he was to testify against the Chilean dictator Pinochet. After the bombing, CIA Director George H. W. Bush told the FBI that there had been no Chilean involvement whatsoever. In 1991 the post-Pinochet Chilean Supreme Court asked George H. W. Bush if he would submit to questioning. Bush refused.
In January 1977 William D. Pawley, the former US Ambassador to Brazil who was connected to Anti-Castro Cubans and mafia figures died by shotgun before his testimony before the House Select Committee on Assassinations.
March 29, 1977: George DeMohrenschildt, 66, who was a CIA contract agent, died of gunshot before scheduled House Select Committee on Assassinations testimony. In tape recording of his death, the burglar alarm is audible before the gunshot, indicating an intruder entered the home immediately before the shooting.
A rich Russian oilman, he was described with his wife as being the two people friendliest to Lee Harvey Oswald at the time of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. De Mohrenschildt was the man who moved Oswald to Dallas. De Mohrenschildt started seeing a new doctor in town. He quickly became mentally unstable, at which time his wife convinced him to stop seeing the doctor. They moved away and left a false forwarding address. In his personal address book was the entry George H.W. Bush, and Zapata Petroleum Midland (the oil company owned by George H.W. Bush).
March 1977: Carlos Prio Soccaras, former Cuban President, money man for anti-Castro Cubans died of gunshot before scheduled House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) testimony.
March 29, 1977: Charles Nicoletti, 61, mobster connected with CIA assassination plots, died of gunshot before scheduled HSCA testimony.
May 1977: Lou Staples, Dallas radio Talk Show host who told friends he would break assassination case, died of a gunshot to head.
June 1977: Louis Nicholas, former No. 3 man in FBI, worked on JFK assassination investigation, special assistant to J. Edgar Hoover and Hoover's liaison with the Warren Commission, died of heart attack before scheduled HSCA testimony.
August 1977: Alan H. Belmont, FBI special assistant to Hoover who testified to the Warren Commission died after a long illness. Given that Nicholas and Belmont worked directly for Hoover, they both most likely knew that Hoover had hard evidence that the CIA had set up Oswald as a patsy. Which was why Hoover had brief Lyndon Johnson that he suspected the CIA was involved.
August 1977: James Cadigan who was a FBI document expert with access to documents that related to death of John F. Kennedy and who testified to the Warren Commission, died due to a fall at his home before scheduled HSCA testimony.
August 1977: Joseph C. Ayres, chief steward on JFK's Air Force One, died in shooting accident.
October 1977: Donald Kaylor who was the FBI fingerprint expert who examined prints found at the assassination scene, died of heart attack before scheduled HSCA testimony.
October 1977: J.M. English who was the former head of FBI Forensic Sciences Laboratory where Oswald's rifle & pistol were tested, died of heart attack before his scheduled HSCA testimony.
November 9, 1977: William C. Sullivan, 65, who was the former number three boss at FBI, who headed Division 5, or counter-espionage and domestic intelligence section. He was shoot in an alleged hunting accident shortly after his preliminary meeting with HSCA.
November 18, 1978: Manuel Artime Buesa abruptly died of cancer in Miami before he was due to appear before the HSCA.
September 24 - 26, 1978: John Paisley, the former CIA's Deputy Director of Office of Strategic Research, is found dead in Maryland's Patuxent River, a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay, and his body was attached to diving weights and was shot in head. Police investigators described it as "an execution-type murder." Paisley knew a lot about people who could have been connected to the assassination of JFK. Another reason Paisley may have been murdered was because of his knowledge about the Watergate cover up of the extent of CIA involvement in domestic spying via the White House Special Investigations Unit "the Plumbers."
May 3, 1990: Mohammed Hammoud, a Lebanese merchant acted as a front man for Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI). As a front man Hammoud received loans and bought banks and /or companies for other people to hide the fact they actually owned the debt and companies or banks. He was not a wealthy man but got a loan for $110 million from BCCI. This is something no honest bank would do. His multiple roles in connection with BCCI continued until his sudden death on May 3, 1990, at the very time that investigations of BCCI were intensifying. He allegedly died in Geneva in 1990 while visiting his doctor and he is buried in Beirut.
In its August 10, 1992 edition, Newsweek reports: US Intelligence officials now say that Mohammed Hammoud, an alleged BCCI front man, was taped saying over the telephone, "If anybody knew how dirty the Americans are in this BCCI business, they'd be surprised -- they're dirtier than the Pakistanis." He then said he was about to tell someone about the American role. Eight hours later he was found dead.
November 7 2003: John J. Kokal, 58, was found dead in the late afternoon of November 7 2003. Police indicated he may have jumped from the eight floor roof of the State Department. headquarters. Kokal was working as an Iraq intelligence analysts for the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR) Near East and South Asian division.
A former INR employee revealed that it would have been impossible for Kokal to have gained entry to the roof on his own. INR occupies both a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) on the sixth floor that has no windows and a windowless structure on the roof that has neither windows nor access to the roof, according to the former official. The other windows at the State Department have been engineered to be shatter proof from terrorist bomb attacks and cannot be opened.
According to State Department sources, Kokal briefed Secretary of State Colin Powell at least once a week on Iraq, adding that Kokal was a skeptic on the Iraqi weapons of mass destruction.
Another INR official, weapons expert Greg Thielmann, said he and INR were largely ignored by Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security John Bolton and his deputy, David Wurmser, a pro-Likud neoconservative who recently became Vice President Dick Cheney's Middle East adviser.
Another INR official, weapons expert Greg Thielmann, said he and INR were largely ignored by Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security John Bolton and his deputy, David Wurmser, a neo-conservative who recently became Vice President Dick Cheney's Middle East adviser.
According to a UPI report, Elliot Abrams once led CIA officer Ben Miller (who was on loan to the NSC) to an open window at the NSC and told him to jump.. While Bolton was demanding the firing of State Department and CIA personnel, including State Department analyst Christian Westermann and CIA officer Fulton Armstrong. Abrams fired CIA officer Ben Miller and two of his NSC colleagues, Flynt Leverett and Hillary Mann.
Nov. 25, 2003: Gus W. Weiss, 72, who was a White House Adviser to four presidents, jumped from a building an alleged suicide.
Weiss served on the National Security Council for 16 years and won numerous awards for his foreign policy and intelligence-gathering skills. Much of his government work centered on national security, intelligence organizations and concerns over technology transfers to communist countries. As an adviser to the Central Intelligence Agency, he served on the Pentagon's Defense Science Board and the Signals Intelligence Committee of the U.S. Intelligence Board. During the Carter administration, Dr. Weiss was an assistant for space policy to the secretary of defense.
"He was wired into the intelligence community, and there were a lot of mystical secrets we weren't privy to," said Harris Gilbert, a Nashville attorney who had been friends with Mr. Weiss since childhood. "He was very interested in diplomatic strategy and was very, very opposed to the Iraq war. It was the first military action he ever opposed, but he believed we shouldn't go to war in the Middle East without knowing what we were getting into."
December 19, 2008: Karl Rove's chief IT consultant, Mike Connellwho was facing subpoena in connection with 2004 Presidential election fraud involving in electronic voting in Ohio died when the small airplane he was piloting crashed upon approach at the Akron-Canton Airport. Connell was allegedly the central figure in a longstanding plot to electronically flip votes to Republicans.
On September 17, 2008, a Republican election whistleblower and data security expert named Stephen Spoonamore filed a sworn affidavit filed in federal court in the above voter fraud case in which he stated that Mike Connell "agrees that the electronic voting systems in the US are not secure" and that Connell had told Spoonamore in 2007 "that he (Connell) is afraid some of the more ruthless partisans of the GOP may have exploited systems he in part worked on for this purpose."
"We have been confidentially informed by a source we believe to be credible that Karl Rove has threatened Michael Connell, a principal witness we have identified in our King Lincoln case in federal court in Columbus, Ohio, that if he does not agree to "take the fall" for election fraud in Ohio, his wife Heather will be prosecuted for supposed lobby law violations.
Mr. Connell is a devout Catholic. He has admitted to me that in his zeal to 'save the unborn' he may have helped others who have compromised elections. He was clearly uncomfortable when I asked directly about Ohio 2004."
