In your A4 boxes place a sheet of kitchen roll/toilet paper on top of the figures vehicles etc then cover with small polyballs (type used in bean bags) .

Agreed, bubblewarp is definitely the way to go. As they are in 'handy A4 sized boxes' just fill in the gaps and across the top with the stuff and away you go.
