Group Description

Here’s the place for leaders of Cub packs, Scout troops, and Venture crews of the Soapstone Ridge District, Atlanta Area Council, BSA.

Our current “cover art” is of the patch from the 1963 Atlanta Area Council Blue Ribbon Camporee May 3-5, 1963 at the Bert Adams Boy Scout Reservation. The compeditive events were String Burning Contest, First Aid, Two-Man Crosscut, Log Raising, Wood Chopping Relay, Log Hauling, Pancake Flipping Contest, and Tug-o-War.

In 1963, the various districts of the Atlanta Area Council, BSA held individual camporees during March or April, 1963 using council-wide set competitive events. Those patrols who earned a Blue Ribbon on the district level were invited to participate in the First Atlanta Area Council Blue Ribbon Camporee. The compeditive events tended to reinforce Scout Skills learned in the BSA Advancement Program.

We hope to change the art periodically to show a variety of traditional Scouting art.

While you are here, check out our "Links" (Bookmarks) section (click at left). You'll see links to several useful Scouting web sites, including our own Soapstone units Pack and Troop 175. Let us know if there are other sites you think we should add.
