      INCIDENT DESCRIPTION


      TRAFFIC ACCIDENT-VEHIC

      On Monday, March 01, 2004, at 0801 hours (8:01 a.m.), five companies
      of Los Angeles Firefighters, one Battalion Officer Command Team, one
      Battalion EMS Supervisor, eight LAFD Rescue Ambulances, and Heavy
      Rescue 56, under the direction of Battalion Commander Michael L.
      Rhodes, responded to a reported Traffic Accident involving a
      Blueline Train and a passenger car. First units on the scene
      reported that a Blueline Train had collided with a private vehicle
      and three people were trapped inside the car. Firefighters quickly
      assessed the three victims and declared a forty year-old female a
      fatality, a forty-five-year-old male critical and a nine-year-old
      male with minor injuries. There were approximately two-hundred
      passengers on the train at the time of the collision, twelve of
      which sustained minor neck and back injuries. Of the twelve minor
      injuries, nine were transported to local hospitals in good
      condition. Receiving hospitals were: Community Hospital of Gardena,
      Gardena Memorial, Harbor/UCLA Medical Center, Martin Luther
      King/Drew Medical Center and Saint Francis Medical Center. The cause
      of the accident is under investigation by LACO Sheriff Department
      and the Los Angels Police Department.
