The International Institute for Management Development in Geneva,
Switzerland, has ranked Slovakia as more competitive than its
post-communist neighbors this year. The Institute doesn't think that the
sky is falling in Slovakia -- in relative terms -- as we sometimes get to
read on SK-W. In the IMD's annual World Competitiveness Scoreboard
released on Tuesday, most of the 60 rated countries scored higher than
last year, but Slovakia made a bigger jump. These are the scores of a few
of the countries. The U.S. got the highest score -- 100.

      78.9 Austria
      73.4 Germany
      68.4 Estonia
      58.5 Portugal
      57.5 Slovakia
      57.2 Hungary
      56.4 Czech R.
      56.3 Greece
      55.5 Slovenia
      50.3 Italy
      41.9 Poland
