- Thanks Martin - this is so neat to know - we often take our groups to Matysak's beautiful restaurant in Pezinok - they have amazing wine tastings and fantastic meals. Nice as they are vintners of many generations and I love the wonderful hand-carved life-sized statue of the patron saint of wine making.

Hmmm -- part of the tasters' description of one of the 4 Slovak wines that won Gold Medals at the 2012 Vinalies Internationales competition in Paris:
Not too bad considering that the wines of France, 12 times more populous than Slovakia (and drenched in wine), won 8 Gold Medals. The above phrases characterized the award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon rosé from Vinodol near Nitra:
