      -an~a is a pan-Slovak feminine derivation. It is rather infrequent, and the derivations often have augmenting, expressive, negative connotations: dlhana "the too-tall one"; strapana "the one with disheveled hair"; sprostana "the dumb one."

      As Helen's and Bill's useful examples show, -ana can be perfectly neutral in family derivations.
