Thanks for posting, Claudia. It's a great article.
I have a nice memory of visiting Jakubany in '97 on Helene's Treasures
Tour. We visited the church--my first visit to a Greek Catholic
church. A young man from Chicago (visiting his grandparents) was
bewildered when our two busloads of Americans piled out in this remote
village! He had just stepped out of the church. The Jakubany women
were in their kroje, having been to the church service. One got a
ride in the bus back to her house. When the bus stopped at a stop
sign, a man got on, thinking it was a public bus. He got a free ride
and we all laughed.
Later that evening, we went to a village party there with great folk
music. Some young people came in and danced very fast. Julia M.
