The Backwards began their career in Kosice, Slovakia in 1996 when two young teens decided to form a band to portray one of the music industry's iconic bands. They interpret the music note for note made famous by the Beatles with a complete sound and sense to detail and take no artistic liberties. The natural chemistry portrayed on stage between band members mimics that of Paul and John. Technically, they were attire of each Beatles era, have collected and insist on using the exact replicas and equipment used by the Beatles on stage whenever possible. The Backwards have performed to sell-out crowds in the U.S. from San Diego, Chicago to Pittsburgh.

"They are the Beatles," said Robert Daniel, their U.S. manager who has worked with the band since 1997 and boasts that their natural physical resemblances and artistry are far superior to others he has seen. To back this claim, The Backwards, is the first band to twice win top prize at the International Beatlefest NYC in 1998 and again in 2003 defeating thirty-six bands for this title. The band also has headlined in various productions including the 92nd St. Y Annual Gala Fund-raiser in New York City with Melissa Manchester and has performed at the world-famous Cavern Club in Liverpool.
