Some of you may remember our sangha session with Liz shortly after her beautiful daughter, Lily, died unexpectedly last year. Having the support of the sangha just let Liz tell us about Lily and what was going on in her life meant so very much to her. Since she isn't on the yahoo SBS group she asked me to post this for her:
I am hosting a potluck at my home August 6
to help observe the one-year anniversary of the death of my daughter,
Lily. I invite you all because you have become important in my life. I
invite you to come share in this difficult part of life. It won't all be
wailing and rending of clothes; she had a fierce twisted sense of humor
and would not countenance a humorless memorial. I am very comfortable
talking about it, it helps me as nothing else does. Death is such a huge
mystery and finality yet as a society we don't often have ways to
explore it compassionately, it seems to me. I hope this may be such a
time for whoever might care to participate.
Sunday 4 August, between 3-8ish
44 N.Grande Ave 990-1208
I will have the grill going, so bring something for that if you like; I will have a slaw and a bean salad.
Bring lawn chairs, if you have them.
There is no obligation to attend, but I will love to see you then. I know some of you are out of town, I just want to reach out.
I plan to attend so I may not see you all at sangha this Sunday. I cannot remember if we are reading the 5 or the 14 Mindfulness Trainings- if it is the 5 I would like to be represented as having practiced.
Thanks, Vivian (Compassionate Awakening of the Heart)
