      The Mid-level Staff Archaeologist/Laboratory Supervisor will serve as a Lead Field Technician/Crew Chief for archaeological field projects, including Phase-1 inventories, Phase-2 test excavations, and Phase-3 data recovery excavations, and is responsible for assisting the Field Supervisor and/or Principal Investigator with project logistics, daily organization and paperwork, data base entry, crew supervision, and reporting. The selected candidate will also serve as an archaeological field monitor for ground-disturbing projects. As the Laboratory Supervisor, the selected candidate will also be responsible for the overall set-up, organization, and maintenance of the archaeological laboratory and data base to process artifact collections, submit artifact samples for special analyses, and prepare and submit collections for curation. Technical capabilities in marine shellfish analyses a plus. Keyword(s): Cultural Resource Specialist 2, Cultural Resources Specialist, Archaeologist, Anthropologist

       

      Bachelors Degree (B.A. or B.S. in Anthropology/Archaeology) or 5+ years experience in anthropology, archaeology, history, or closely related field. Minimum of 4 years experience with cultural resources projects with at least 2 years as lead laboratory technician. Professional experience in the implementation of cultural resources studies such as archaeological survey, updating and recording of sites, testing and evaluation, data recovery; laboratory methods for processing and cataloging cultural resources, and knowledge of curation preparation methods. Familiarity and use of Access Data Base, Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets, or similar programs
