        URS Corporation, a full-service environmental and engineering consulting firm with offices worldwide, is seeking archaeologists for a Phase IA survey in Mississippi, with potential for Phase I and Phase II follow-on work.

        The survey will be conducted across four counties in southern Mississippi. Archaeologists will work independently to assess individual properties for their archaeological potential and make recommendations for further archeological work.

        Prior field experience sufficient to demonstrate ability to work independently and make decisions regarding archaeological potential is required; M.A. preferred.

        The project will start May 19 and is anticipated to last a minimum of 5 months; start and end dates are flexible and we will consider applicants available for all or a portion of that time. Hotel, per diem, and travel are provided. The pay rate is $15 to $20 per hour, based on experience and education.

        URS Corporation, a full-service environmental and engineering consulting
        firm with offices worldwide, is seeking field technicians for a Phase I and
        follow-up Phase II surveys in Mississippi.

        This important survey is to assist the citizens of Mississippi rebuild
        their coastal communities after the devastating effects of Hurricane
        Katrina. It will be conducted in Pearl River, Hancock, Harrison and Jackson
        counties in southern Mississippi. Archaeologists will work in small teams
        to assess privately owned properties for their potential to contain
        NRHP-eligible archaeological sites and will conduct systematic surface and
        subsurface testing programs at these properties.

        Minimum work requirements include a B.A. or B.S. with a specialization in
        Anthropology or Archaeology and successful completion of an accredited
        field school. Candidates with a Master’s degree and prior experience in
        projects conducted in the Southeastern U.S. will be preferred.

        The project will start June 16 and is anticipated to last a minimum of 4
        months; individual start and end dates can be flexible and we will consider
        applicants available for all or a portion of that time. Hotel, per diem,
        and some travel allowances are provided. The pay rate is $13 to $17 per
        hour, based on experience and education. The field schedule is expected to
        be 5 days on and weekends off. Overtime (1.5 times hourly rate) will be
        paid for time worked in excess of 40 hours per week.
