- Virginia Tech’s Conservation Management Institute is seeking qualified applicants for 2-3 archaeological field technician positions to perform fieldwork and other supporting activities for Phase I archaeological surveys at Fort Pickett, Virginia. May include Phase II archaeological site evaluations a well.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in anthropology or related field; experience should minimally include an archaeological fieldschool; experience working on a military installation is a plus; must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to effectively work as part of a team; must be attentive to detail and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. These positions are expected to last 3-4 months, with the possibility of being extended to 9 months.
These positions pay $12.00/hour, with no benefits. Housing is provided. As there is minimal travel associated with this position, no per diem is provided. The work week is 40 hours, broken down to five 8 hour days. Only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
