      ARCHAEOLOGISTS





      The Cultural Resource Division of The Louis Berger Group, Inc., (Berger)
      solicits applications for the position of Archaeologist in our offices
      in: Needham, MA; Albany, NY; East Orange, NJ; Washington, DC; Richmond,
      VA; and Cary, North Carolina.



      For these positions, we seek highly motivated individuals to pursue
      quality archaeological research in a cultural resource management
      context. Responsibilities include: background research, field survey
      and excavation, NRHP evaluations, effects assessments pursuant to 36 CFR
      800, and report writing. Experience in ArcView and ArcInfo GIS as well
      as in MicroStation is desired. Specialized skills in ceramics, lithic
      technologies, and/or historic archaeology are strongly desired.



      M.A. in Anthropology/Archaeology (or equivalent degree) plus excellent
      research and writing skills are required. Ph.D. highly desired in some
      locations. For entry-mid level positions, at least one year professional
      experience in field survey and National Register evaluation of
      archaeological resources, preferably in the context of Section 106
      compliance is required. To be considered for senior positions, a
      minimum of five years supervisory experience in archaeological survey
      and evaluation as well as in directing data recovery projects in the
      context of Section 106 compliance is required. Applicants must have
      experience in the interpretation and evaluation of resources in the
      region of applicants' desired Berger office location (New England,
      Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, or Southeast).



      A preferred candidate will have working familiarity with Federal laws,
      regulations, standards, and guidelines governing cultural resources.
      Ability to communicate directly with a variety of clients in the public
      and private sector is a necessity as is the ability to work both on own
      initiative and as part of a team with other cultural resource
      professionals in the company. Applicants must have a demonstrated
      ability to meet budget and schedule requirements.



      Competitive salary negotiable based on experience. Full benefits
      package includes vacation, sick leave, holidays, medical/dental (free to
      employee), life/disability insurance, and 401K. These are full-time,
      salaried positions, not project appointments. Successful applicants
      must be willing to relocate to the metropolitan area of one of the
      Berger offices advertised and will be expected to travel extensively for
      project assignments. Telecommuter options are not available for these
      positions.
