      The Mark Twain National Forest is currently
      outreaching to determine
      interest in an archaeological technician position -
      GS-102/7 (approximately
      $31,500 yr.). This is a permanent, full-time position
      out of Houston,
      Missouri.

      Primary duties include independently conducting
      cultural resource surveys
      and inventories, recording cultural resource sites,
      submitting survey
      reports and State Site Forms, providing initial
      interpretation of sites and
      artifacts discovered during cultural resource surveys,
      and maintaining the
      district Cultural Resource files and database system
      for heritage resources
      in the computer system.

        Hardlines Design Company (a founding member of ACRA)
        is seeking
        applicants
        for the position of Senior Archaeological Technician.
        Expected duties
        and
        responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
        performing
        literature
        reviews, fieldwork (surface survey to data recovery),
        supervision of
        small
        crews, artifact processing and analysis, report
        preparation, and
        graphic
        production. The position will require some travel, up
        to about 30% of
        work
        time and a successful applicant will have to relocate
        to Columbus,
        Ohio.

        Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years experience
        in CRM-based
        archaeology, a BA/BS in Anthropology or a related
        field, regional
        experience in the Midwest and/or Southeast, and a
        valid Drivers
        License.
        Special consideration will be given to applicants with
        specialized
        knowledge
        in artifact analysis, ArcView or realted GIS
        experience, or familiarity
        with remote sensing.

          The Valles Caldera National Preserve (VCNP) is seeking
          qualified
          applicants
          for Cultural Resource Coordinator.

          The Valles Caldera National Preserve Cultural Resource
          Coordinator will
          serve as a Preserve staff officer and will be
          responsible for the
          overall
          coordination and development of the cultural resource
          program of the
          Preserve, as well as consultation with appropriate
          Native American
          Pueblos
          and Tribes. This is a supervisory archaeologist
          position that includes
          responsibility for planning, development,
          implementation,
          interpretation,
          and review of the Preserve's Cultural Resource
          Program. This position
          also
          will involve interdisciplinary coordination with the
          scientific and
          management programs on the Preserve to achieve an
          integration of
          cultural
          and natural resources management.

          This position will be announced in mid-January, 2003.
