- I had a friend post this on her livejournal, it gave
me pause and I myself couldn't really think of any
examples. Anyone here able to?
Was reading a book about fantasy novel cliches, mainly
as a what-not-to-do sort of thing (though I find I was
already not planning on doing 99% of the stuff, but
it's a funny book, so I'm happy I got it anyway), and
came upon the assertion that Bards (capital "B" Bards,
the kind who can do magic with their songs) are always
Good. And you know, I can't really think of any Evil
Bards? I can think of one kinda-neutral one, but even
then, he gets pulled onto the Side of Good eventually.
So, my well-read friends, help me out here: have you
read any books with genuinely evil/malicious Bards in
them? Men or women wandering the land, singing songs
of fear and spite, spreading discord and general
unhappiness? Anyone? (Because, you know, if not, I'm
gonna have to do that, just because. I might do it
