Appended below are more negative feedback and public sentiment over the bogus "review committee" that has been set-up by the PAP propaganda machine in a desperate bid to provide some semblance of legitimacy over what are in fact out rageous and obscene million dollar salaries that the PAP ministers have paid themselves from public coffers.

Such rediculous salaries for what are suppossed to be public servants fulfilling a once honourable vocation have long since been a sore issue of contention and resentment amongst singapore's usually docile and silent majority.  What adds insult to injury is the obvious lack of objectivity in the members which constitute the so called "review committee", and the glaring fact that the committee is headed by a previous crony, Gerard Ee,  from the PAP's inner circle who had previously aided in the cover up of the massive NKF Scam.

The final findiings of the "review committee" will be a pre-determined outcome (very similiar to Singapore's Kangaroo Judiciary) and it is almost certain that Singapore twsited equivalent of the Pigs from George Orwell's Animal Farm will continue to abscond with their million dollar salaries, safe for some cosmetic changes to the covuluted processes that give a claok of legitimacy to their looting spree.

Why should the salary of the ministers be comparable to the private sector?

Those in private sectors choose to stay there as they do not have desire to serve the nation. They can earn all they want but they have no legal power or authority. They are just businessmen and business women.

But for those who choose to be the government, their motive is different. They should serve the nation as be the policy makers, men and women of intergrity and that we can respect and we can trust.

These people have power and fame and they should have a calling to public service. Their pay should not be compared with those who work for purely money . A fair renumeration for those who works in this noble calling should suffice. If bright red carrots are placed to attract men and women to serve the country, then something is very very wrong.

No one serve the country for the sake of money, serving the country is a noble job, just like a priest or monk who gives us worldly gains for what they want to uphold.

The right salary should never be in the millions as these are inappropriate and are unfair to the common man and woman in the street !

To me, if the salary of the minsters still stays so high, then those who serve the nation robs the nation by taking the best bite of the cake and without the approval of the people.

Those who serve the nation should show good examples of selflessness and of honesty.

Most singaporeans are very fair & more than understanding. We don't want cabinet ministers and MPs to be "poorly paid" but equally, they cannot be obscenely high. Public Service is a calling, not a Job, especially not for money-making.

If ministers and MPs so calculative on how much they are losing out financially by giving up their private sector posts, no wonder these ministers & MPs run singapore like a company or factory. They only care about macro and "long-term" while many singaporean families suffering each passing day, they still think "ok what, the statistics very nice leh, we very successful what".

If need great ideas, implementations, etc, can pay experts or tap into hearts & brains of many people who love singapore. But for Singapore Government, the most important is Heart for Singaporeans, the People not the land or the business venture. So many millions families' lives & futures in you people's hands.

Why must we still have a President that do not know how much is the country reserve in the first place?Holding the custodial keys to the reserve but do not know what or how much is just defeating the purpose in having the head of state. If the president play a significant role like what it was claimed, than our late president Ong TC would have known everything.Unfortunately the role of a president is just a formality and only for ceremonial purposes that earned 4 million in tax payers money.

why all the "wayang" again, it is so simple just compare the singaporean ministers pay against world leaders. is the pm trying to tell singaporeans that all other lowly paid world leaders including OBAMA,will tend to corrupt.
JUST ANOTHER "WAYANG" PUT UP BY THE PAP GOVERNMENT, ALL OUR MINISTERS ARE ALREADY OVERPAID. IF THE PAP GOVERNMENT IS SINCERE, NO PAY INCREMENT FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS.

See .....Immediately after swearing in, they pay themselves the new high scale that Lee Hsien Loong set before the election.....by the time Gerad Ee's committee submit the new scale...they have already collected the highest amouts first....they never meant to take a pay cut....Singaporeans...listen up.....PAP has to work to prove that they can be trusted....every action so far is self centred...

I can recall how ex-MM advocated and argued for the need to pay ministers salaries comparable to top earners in the private sector. His rationale was that it was not easy to attract the best brains into politics and become ministers as these high-flyers were already earning, or could earn much higher salaries, by remaining in the private sector, and entering politics involved too much risks and sacrifices including the lost of privacy, etc. He also argued that Singapore's GDP and high per capita income was such that it could easily afford to pay its ministers top salaries.

Ex-MM further asserted that to argue against paying ministers top salaries based on the altruistic argument that entering politics was not about money but more about serving people was hiding behind political hypocrisy. Mr Chiam See Tong was lambasted for advancing such an argument and was even accused of playing gutter politics when he compared and equated what a minister earned in one month to the dozen years or so an average worker would take to earn in equivalence.

When the policy to pay ministers top salaries by pegging with the top earners in private sector was pushed through, Singaporeans were still a complicit lot and the opposition then was still struggling to find its footing. In hindsight, it has become quite apparent now that the rationale advocated for paying top salaries to ministers was over-simplistic and lacking wisdom. It has fallen flat on its nose judging by the unhappiness and resentments expressed in recent times through the ballot box and the social media.

It is also obvious that the high salary pay out has the unintended effect of producing smug and arrogant ministers operating from ivory towers, detached and removed from the ground, hopelessly unable to relate with the plight of the struggling man-of-the-street, and completely desentisized from the hardship their policies have created.

Do these ministers have any idea what we, the ordinary citizens, have to contend with everyday to provide for the family? Are these ministers aware that some of our children being turned down by our very own universities as not good enough have to go abroad at great expenses to pursue their tertiary education in foreign universities and despite the odds, came up top?

Are these ministers aware that we parents having retired have to scrounge and borrow money to prove to foreign universities that we have enough funds to see our children's education through before they could be accepted, whilst our money remained locked in our CPF retirement accounts, unable to be used to help our children in their education abroad?

I don't suppose our world highest paid ministers have any bread and butter issue to contend with to even remotely understand what it means to survive and cope with life and the cost of living in Singapore. Surely not because with the hundreds of thousands of salaries being credited into their bank accounts every month, there is just too much money flowing out of their ears for them to notice, much less undertstand, what is going on in the lives of ordinary Singaporeans.

Just because He is the president and therefore his salary should be of such a level to reflect that high office? That's just so full of crap!!! Is S R Nathan of royal blood? Is Singapore a Constitutional Monarchy? If not why is our president drawing more monthly income than Queen Elizabeth of the UK? Is something wrong somewhere? Look at the size of tiny Singapore. There can be no justification. Just look at Singapore's GDP compared to Australia, US, Japan & UK. There can never be justification no matter what the PAP professors tell us. You can't give the government leaders and the president incomes that are so much higher than what the government leaders of the industrialized west and Japan draw. It makes sense only to those who are drawing the income and not to anybody else anywhere.

Why not review our living standard, expenses, salary and retirement instead? That's priority.

Everything is so expensive here...Pay and Pay...

      GST, ERP, TAXES etc etc...how to retire with a peace of mind...previously 62, now 65...in future...68, 70?

If there is opportunity, will sure not want to retire here....

Foreigners are already overflow...everywhere you go...you will see them...even doing Customer Service Job? Could not even speak or understand English! It's just annoying!!! Cheap labour??

Thought education in Singapore is of higher standard yet with these foreigners, I think some Singaporeans or most of us felt inferior...frustrated...especially at own workplace...

I hope a Change for Good...

As long as the salary of our govt is more than the most powerful, uncorrupted and biggest economy of the world (the US), then it is not politically correct. The ex-MPs and retired ones should be penalised and refund back portion of the slary backdated.

Please also do away with pension scheme which our citizen dont enjoy except the govt.

Why they keep saying the salary should be tag to Top earners in the private sector? They are not in the private sector. They should be there to serve the people. If they want to earn private sector top monies than by all means go find a job in the private sector. And by the way, please make sure that while there is a reduction in pay, there are no other benefits to compensate the wage lost for the ministers. And while we are at it, what about all the directorships the ministers are holding? Can we have full time minister please?
