Group Description

Welcome to Seeking Wicca, a group for discussing authentic (traditional) Wiccan practice. SW was active for awhile, then went inactive for awhile more. So the board has been cleared out in order to start anew and to see if there's any life left in it. To what extent new discussions will develop will depend on what group dynamic forms.

New memberships and all messages require approval. If you don't want to log-in to check on activity, set your message preferences to "individual emails" to receive notifications.

"Authentic" Wicca? Wicca is a modern witchcraft religion. It is correctly defined as an oathbound, initiatory, Mysteries religion -- a modern pagan priesthood more closely resembling the ancient Mystery religions of the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians than mainstream religions. All initiates are trained pagan clergy, there is no laity like with mainstream paths. Thus contrary to popular misconception, one cannot be a"self-initiated" Wiccan any more than one could be a "self-initiated" rabbi or Shinto monk. Wicca is sometimes aka as British Traditional Wicca.

NOTE: There are many sincere individuals and groups who have incorporated publicly known Wiccan elements into their practices. These non-initiatory paths are often erroneously called "Wicca" too. While they are sincere and dynamic, they are their own paths regardless of how much Wiccan influence might be present. These paths are more correctly referred to as Eclectic witchcraft or paganism, as they incorporate Wicca and other influences and differ from person to person.

This forum is open to all Wiccans, Witches, Pagans and Seekers alike.
