As far as I know Richard is not subscribed to this group. I merely QSP'd parts of an email he sent to me and other SJ22S teammembers. All IST will be grouped into patrols and Richard merely suggested a friendly competition between ourselves. I'll have to pass for CW because after I took the test I hardly ever touched a key anymore ;)...

I'm definitely game for Echolink operations, the only thing we need is a reliable internet connection in or near the shack. I am hopeful but given past experience in major jamborees the adjective 'reliable' is the tricky bit. KYFC!

4) team / staff allocation
The radio team has succeeded in getting almost all staff pre-allocated. We will have 20 Swedisch scout radio staff, 20 international ones and a few extra allocated from the IST pool. Your planning team has 4 persons. We will run in shifts to cover 24 h operation. Some days will be very busy (e.g. 4 Aug festival day with extra visitors) and others will be easier (31 July camp-in-camp day when a lot of participants are away). Staff work schedule will reflect that. You will get some time off to explore the rest ot the camp.
The personell department is currently getting your names out of the IST database and allocating them to Radio Scouting. Your places are all confirmed ! Make sure your contingent has registered you as IST ( I can't help you with that).
The Jamboree will allocate all IST to patrols of 6 to 8 people, with a Swedish patrol leader. The PL will help you get set up and organized. And there will be patrol activities specially for IST. Of course, all "our" patrols will be in the Radio-Scouting area. I guess you can start thinking of a patrol name. And we can have a patrol competition in CW one evening ...

About the operation:
Enclosed is the latest Jamboree map. Due to the shift in subcamps, the antenna farm will move to the HQ area on the opposite side of the main camp road. Our activity tents will be in the HQ area with a cable conduit going underneath the main road to the antenna space (sealed off for participants).
Additionally we will put some of the non-radio workshops (foxhunt e.g) directly in the heart of the Main Square, with a livelink to the main station. It is a bit more inconvenient to work in two locations, but it will give us a higher exposure.
Activities will be in large tents equipped with anti-dust floors.
Spontaneous Activities run from 10 - 21 h daily. The radio station wil run 24/7. We will have fox hunts, radio stations, some internet, electronic kit building, demo's, radio challenges and more. A radio activity badge is foreseen for Scouts completing min 3 of the offered activity workshops. Our programme is open to youth participants, leaders, IST and day visitors.
Details are being worked out at the moment and we will contact you individually for assistance with various items / parts / equipment.
Generic material (tents, tables etc) have all been ordered via the Jamboree Organisation and for the most part been confirmed. The same applies to the budget. Your planning team is working on the last details here.

We will also start a blog on the main World Jamboree web site www.worldscoutjamboree.se to have a promotion of our Radio-Scouting activity. Would be fun to see how many Scouts we can involve in skeds and Join-In-Jamboree activities. Your contributions are very welcome.

The next meeting is with the whole Common Areas staff 5 / 6 March in Sweden. I will have more details by then.
