JOTA Charlotte, NC
- From 1PM to 4PM this Sunday, October 17th, members of the
Mecklenburg Amateur Radio Society (MARS) will be operating 'field
day style' from the Hornets Nest Girl Scout Council headquarters on
Idlewild Road in Charlotte, NC. The licensed Amateur Radio
operators are providing an opportunity for all the Girl Scouts to
learn about ham radio and participate in the Jamboree On The Air
Current plans are to have 4 stations in operation: HF: CW, SSB,
Digital (RTTY/PSK31 on 20m digital band segment), and V/UHF 2m/70cm-
(on the W4BFB 146.940 and Boy Scout 442.125+ & 156.7 Tone
repeaters). There will be multi-media presentations on Amateur Radio
as well as the modes being used at the operating stations.
During the operation of RTTY/PSK31 modes, the computer display of
that station will be projected onto a wide screen using the new
W4BFB projector. We will be calling CQ JOTA during our RTTY and
BPSK31 operations. RTTY may be difficult due to the worldwide JART
RTTY contest, but we will try to be there for anyone to answer.
The effort is being led by John White, WB2NHQ. WB2NHQ@A...
If you are on-the-air, you can help by engaging in QSOs with our
scouts during the Sunday afternoon JOTA effort.
