Something new at Slippery Falls
- This just in: Hot off the press:
Camp Slippery Falls Scout Ranch in Tishimingo Oklahoma has two new additions
to its facility. With the donation of tower by KJ0W/Brad Nelson and others,
a couple of OCAPA members hauled two 40 ft Rohn 25 towers, VHF and HF yagis
down there to put up and operate from. They are placed down near the Rifle
range at the highest point in the central area of the camp. The HF Yagi
needs a little TLC but I'm assured it will go up soon!
Many Thanks to Tony Van Helmond (Camp Ranger), Drew Armstrong (Camp
Director), Brad Nelson/KJ0W (donations), Ron Folk/AD5JN (Commisioner), Mark
Arnold/W5PDH (Volunteer Staff), and John Dronberger/N5YZA (Commisioner) for
their efforts and enthusiasm in this project.
The twin towers were placed in strategic locations in order that dipoles may
also be used between them said N5YZA.
This new addition will get plenty of use. It will help both the camp staff
by way of the camp repeater and allow licensed Amateur operators who are
down there to teach and operate for the week that they are there!
Hats off to all who participated in this project. We couldn't have done it
without your support for both the Scouting program and amateur radio.
