      Most dual purpose radios use channel 1-7 as identical FRS/GMRS frequencies, Channels 8-15 are set on GMRS frequencies, operate at higher power, and require a "family" license to operate.  The fee for the license is not outrageous, $75 for 10 years comes to mind, but if GMRS are used each family in the net should have a license.
