      The 8th Annual Chester Himes Black Mystery Writer's Conference expands to a
      two day conference of writing workshops and panel discussions. With the
      help of Eleanor Taylor Bland, author of the Marti McAllister series, the
      Friends of Chester Himes (FOCH) have added a half- day workshop on Friday.
      Joining authoress Eleanor Taylor Bland and FOCH on Friday will be Gar
      Anthony Haywood, Penny Mickelbury, Frankie Bailey, Robert Greer and Gary
      Phillips.

      On Saturday, May 17th, there will be a full day of panel discussions and
      presentations. Several new authors will be in attendance: Barbara Fleming,
      Edward Briscoe, Agatha Briscoe, and Delores Johnson. As well as author and
      professor of Criminology, Frankie Bailey and friends and longterm
      supporters: Terris Grimes, Robert Greer, and Jervey Tervalon.
      In keeping with the FOCH mission of promoting literacy in the schools and
      supporting the African American mystery writer, once again FOCH will sponsor
      the student writing contest.

      The registration fee for the two days is $110 including a hosted reception
      on Friday evening and lunch on Saturday. Early registration paid by April
      11th is only $100.00.
